Significance

I said a few months ago that I wanted to write a piece on success, significance and satisfaction.

Writing about success was pretty easy…

I am surrounded by very successful people.

As I started to work on significance, the path was less clear…

Unfortunately…that is no longer the case.

Significance was defined all too clearly to us on January 14th, 2010.

A few years ago our family was larger.

Shane and Josh had a very close friend that stayed with us almost every day during the summer and every afternoon after school.

He surfed, kitesurfed, skated and played with the Boyz - even Coen.

He always smiled so bright that you could not help but smile back.

He traveled with us on vacations and always was so incredibly polite, well mannered and thoughtful.

3 years ago his family moved to the North side and we saw less and less of him.

When we did…he had not changed at all… he just a genuinely great kid.

Jarrett Mahaa was in an automobile accident in Daytona on January 14th, 2010 – he did not survive.

Our family will miss him greatly and the world is less bright without him.

Significance is clear me…

I'm so sorry shawn. there's no words for losing someone so young but know that he will continue to have a great influence on you and your boys' lives each and every day of your lives
